Priority Justice Areas

We focus on justice areas where people and organisations are most vulnerable to rights violations, serious harm, and denial of justice. These priority areas reflect some of the types of cases we are currently engaging with alongside our programmes, including unlawful eviction, domestic and gender-based violence, professional misconduct and the use of misinformation and blackmail to undermine accountability.

We support survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, including children and other vulnerable individuals, through legal assistance, advocacy and protective interventions that prioritise safety, dignity and access to justice.

We support people facing unlawful eviction and other violations of their housing and tenancy rights. Through legal assistance and advocacy, we work to challenge forced displacement, abuse of legal process and other unlawful conduct that threatens housing security.

We support people affected by misconduct within the legal profession by documenting complaints and pursuing appropriate disciplinary remedies, including proceedings before the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee. Where the reported conduct may constitute a criminal offence, we also support reporting to the police and other relevant authorities. No legal practitioner is above the law.

We support people harmed by the misuse of media platforms, misinformation and disinformation. Through documentation, public education and appropriate legal action, we work to challenge harmful narratives, protect reputations and promote responsible use of the media.

We work to protect the rights and dignity of people held in police stations, correctional centres and other places of detention. Through detention monitoring, legal assistance and engagement with relevant authorities, we address prolonged or unlawful detention, lack of legal representation, harmful conditions and other violations of the rights of people in custody.
