How We Work
We advance justice by supporting victims of injustice, monitoring law enforcement and detention facilities and advocating for accountability and reform across Nigeria’s justice system. Our work combines direct intervention, sustained oversight and evidence-based advocacy to protect rights, challenge abuses, advance accountability and uphold the rule of law.
Access to Justice and Victim Support
We provide legal aid and direct support to victims of injustice, helping them understand their rights, challenge unlawful actions and pursue fair and lawful outcomes through the justice system.
Police and Detention Monitoring
In collaboration with the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee (ACJMC), we conduct oversight visits to police stations and detention facilities to promote lawful arrest and detention, protect detainees’ rights and strengthen compliance with due process standards.
Prison Intervention Programme
We support access to justice for pre-trial detainees and individuals held due to poverty, working to reduce prolonged detention, alleviate custodial overcrowding and promote lawful and humane detention practices.
Professional Misconduct and Legal Accountability
We support individuals in pursuing complaints and accountability for justice-related professional misconduct, including unethical conduct, fraud, forgery, impersonation and abuse of professional authority, through appropriate institutions.
Advocacy and Justice System Reform
We pursue systemic justice reforms through evidence – based advocacy and institutional engagement aimed at strengthening the rule of law and accountability.
Research, Documentation, and Public Education
We document justice sector practices and rights violations, conduct research, produce reports, and publish educational materials that inform the public, counter misinformation and promote accountability.

Priority Justice Areas
We focus on justice areas where people and organisations are most vulnerable to rights violations, serious harm, and denial of justice. These priority areas reflect some of the types of cases we are currently engaging with alongside our programmes, including unlawful eviction, domestic and gender-based violence, professional misconduct and the use of misinformation and blackmail to undermine accountability.
Domestic and Gender - Based Violence, Including Children
We support survivors of domestic and gender – based violence, including children, through legal aid, advocac and protective interventions that prioritise safety, dignity and access to justice.
Illegal Eviction and Housing Rights
We support individuals affected by unlawful eviction and violations of tenancy rights. Unlawful eviction is a criminal offense, not merely a civil dispute and we work to address illegal displacement, abuse of process and the use of unlawful means to deny lawful protection and housing security.
Professional Misconduct and Legal Accountability
We pursue accountability for professional misconduct within the legal profession by reviewing complaints, and assisting with proper filing of cases through appropriate disciplinary channels, including the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee(LPDC). Our work promotes ethical standards, professional responsibility and public trust in the justice system.
Media Blackmail, Misinformation and Disinformation
We support those targeted through media blackmail, misinformation; and campaign against the use of these tactics to undermine justice through public education, documentation, and legal accountability measures where appropriate.
