Insights from Police Oversight Visits in Abuja FCT

As part of AWJAI’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the administration of criminal justice, we conducted seven (7) additional Police oversight visits to police stations across the Abuja FCT. These visits provided invaluable insights into facility conditions, detainee treatment, and compliance with legal standards.

During these Police oversight visits, we identified systemic challenges that affect the criminal justice system. We also fostered meaningful dialogue with key stakeholders, including police officials, magistrates, and civil society partners. These discussions helped lay a foundation for actionable reforms aimed at improving detention conditions and upholding detainees’ rights.
