On March 20, 2025, the Asabe Waziri Justice Advocacy Initiative (AWJAI), in collaboration with Citizens Gavel Foundation for Social Justice (Citizens Gavel), visited Suleja Correctional Center to support inmate welfare and assess gaps in legal representation. This initiative aligns with our unwavering commitment to justice, legal aid, and prison reform.
Key Highlights of the Visit:
✅ Donation of Barbing Clippers – To enhance hygiene and personal grooming among inmates, we supplied essential barbing clippers, addressing a critical shortage within the facility and fostering a sense of dignity.
✅ Inmates Interviews for Pro Bono Legal Assistance: Our team conducted in-depth interviews with numerous indigent inmates lacking legal representation. These discussions underscored the urgent need for pro-bono legal services to ensure fair trials, due process, and hope for second chances.
AWJAI remains steadfast in its mission to advocate for prison reform, uphold human dignity, and ensure equal access to justice for all. We believe that no one should be deprived of their legal rights due to financial or systemic barriers. Through continued engagement, strategic partnerships, and sustained advocacy, we are working to address gaps in legal representation and improve conditions within correctional facilities.
