Who we are
The Asabe Waziri Justice Advocacy Initiative (AWJAI) is a non profit, non political organisation committed to advancing access to justice and accountability within Nigeria’s justice system.
Established in 2023, AWJAI works alongside individuals and communities affected by injustice, providing legal aid, guidance and sustained support as they navigate complex and often inaccessible justice system structures. Our work centres on protecting rights, amplifying the voices of victims and ensuring that injustice is challenged through lawful and transparent means.
Through direct intervention, independent oversight, and evidence based advocacy, we promote reforms that strengthen fairness, accountability and public trust in justice institutions.
AWJAI believes that justice should not be a privilege. We remain committed to building a Nigeria where justice is accessible, dignity is protected and no victim is left without a path to redress.

Mission
To combat injustice by providing legal aid, delivering support services and advocating for reforms that promote accountability within Nigeria’s justice system.
Vision
A Nigeria where justice is accessible, fair and timely for all.
Justice for all
We envision a Nigeria where justice is not a privilege but a right; and where every person, from the most powerful to the most vulnerable, stands equal before the law. This vision guides AWJAI’s work and informs our commitment to fairness, dignity and accountability.
Through sustained and principled advocacy, we confront injustice, expose wrongdoing and promote accountability within the justice system. We recognise that accountability is essential to restoring public trust and ensuring that the law serves those it is meant to protect.
We affirm the importance of speaking up and taking action. Even within an imperfect system, meaningful progress is possible when individuals and institutions choose to uphold what is just and right.
At AWJAI, we expand access to justice, stand firmly with victims of injustice and pursue accountability through lawful and ethical means. Every day, we remain committed to building a safer, fairer and more equitable society for all.

TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY
Transparency and accountability are central to our work. We operate with openness and responsibility. We publish an annual impact report and share our financial information to build and sustain public trust.
The Origins of Our Logo: Responding to Curiosity
Our logo encapsulates the essence of AWJAI’s inspiration. It is a lotus flower in shades of purple and black, a symbol of strength, justice and resilience. The Lotus rises from murky waters yet blooms in purity, reflecting the courage of those we stand with and the hope we help restore.
Purple represents justice, dignity and our unwavering commitment to our cause. Black signifies the law, authority and the resilience needed to protect and uphold rights.
Together, these elements capture AWJAI’s mission: to empower the vulnerable, hold wrongdoers accountable and build a fairer, more just society.
