When Chidera reached out to the Asabe Waziri Justice Advocacy Initiative (AWJAI), he was anxious and unsure of what to do. Confronting intimidation with justice, he stood his ground after his landlord had shown up with police officers from the police station near where he lives in Abuja, he was coerced into signing an undertaking that imposed a deadline for him to vacate his home or risk forced eviction. The ordeal left him feeling threatened and powerless.
But AWJAI knew his rights had been violated.
With AWJAI’s support, Chidera stood up to the intimidation, confronting intimidation with justice. We helped him challenge the unlawful demand and assert his right to remain in his home until due process was followed. By addressing the improper use of police involvement in a civil tenancy matter, AWJAI ensured that Chidera’s dignity and legal protections were upheld.
This is more than just a housing dispute—it’s a testament to the power of knowing your rights and refusing to be bullied into silence, confronting intimidation with justice. Chidera’s courage, backed by AWJAI’s unwavering advocacy, proves that justice isn’t reserved for the powerful—it’s for everyone willing to stand up and speak out.
