In collaboration with the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee (ACJMC), the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and Citizens Gavel, AWJAI conducted a monitoring visit to Bwari Police Station, led by Her Worship Okoronkwo Chiemene.
During our visit on August 29, 2024, we encountered an inmate, an orphan struggling with financial hardship, who had been detained for seven months due to his inability to meet bail conditions. AWJAI, in partnership with Citizens Gavel, is actively working to secure his release on bail.
Our commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting human rights is steadfast. We continue to work tirelessly to ensure a fair and just criminal justice system for all. Together, we advocate for reforms that uphold legal rights and ensure the humane treatment of all individuals in custody.
